Future
After Hello, Dolly! we will be performing an Old Time Music Hall in October and in July 2013 will be performing Lionel Bart's Oliver! We've almost finalised details of February show - once we know, you will know...if you keep checking back!

Archived news!

28th August 2011: A great performance at the Havering Town Show again this year. Thanks to all those who came out to sing and thanks to those who came to watch! Also a big thanks to everyone who organised the stall and came to help man it! Loads of new faces interested in the group...which is fantastic!

9th July 2011: OK OK...so clearly I'm not writing this one on the 9th...but what a show. The cast were really challenged by our production team and in the end everyone needs to be so proud that they stepped up and met that challenge - and we can see the results! Fantastic comments from the audience - hugely enjoyable show for the cast...and then a great party afterwards (despite an issue with beer and plug sockets...they don't mix well). Thanks again to everyone involved, but especially Sally, Steven, Neil, Howard and Graham.

8th July 2011: No second night sluggishess for us! A few more notes in the early hours of the morning helped to ensure our concentration was maintained. And the results were fantastic!

7th July 2011: What a night!! Sally's 7 pages of notes at 3am in the morning (such dedication!) really helped to put those final touches to it. And the audience reaction was just incredible. And the cast are on such a high. What a feeling!

6th July 2011: Well, we finished of our technical run and then had a dress rehearsal...but didn't make it to the end. On the plus side, the first half of the dress was brilliant - full of energy. But we haven't run the show fully yet! Argh!

5th July 2011: Eek...a technically challenging show...which meant we didn't finish our technical rehearsal in time...

4th July 2011: There's nothing quite like a band call....kicks off show week so so well. What talented guys these musicians are!

3rd July 2011: The last rehearsal at the hall - a full (and hot!) run in costume. It's really beginning to come together and all that hard work from cast and production team is bearing fruit!

16th June 2011: Rehearsals are really hotting up!! Seriously. The hall is so warm! Our guests (Neil and Howard) are doing brilliantly to pick up everything so quickly. What absolute stars! We're getting to that point of absolute panic...are we going to pull this off?!?

18th May 2011: Success!! After all that searching we find two possibles at once! Thanks to Neil and James for coming down. Now all the parts can fall into place! We have a show!

3rd May 2011: Rehearsals are hard work...but we are having fun learning the music - it's such brilliant music! But we are still minus our lead men! The hunt continues...

13th March 2011: Auditions today! A great set of auditions...but not quite enough people auditioning to enable the production team to cast all the parts. So...re-auditions... Congratulations to those who were successful!

3rd March 2011: We are really pleased to report that Havering Council have compensated us sufficiently and apologised for our drama (see three news items down!). Thanks to those involved in ensuring that this happened quickly and efficiently.

24th February 2011: One show ends...and another begins! The launch was today, with a brand new production team - and they made quite an impact. Sally clearly has very clear views as to what she's after and Steven is energetic and...loud! Looks like it will be hard work...but fun!

20th February 2011: Well, after the drama of yesterday, the final performance went really well today. Thank you so much to the production team (Christine Presland and Nick Ford) and everyone else who has helped for this show - and to Dicky Brooks for compiling and writing the show. An excellent party at a local pub topped off a bizarre, but ultimately, good weekend.

19th February 2011: DRAMA!! Very sadly, we were forced to cancel our matinee performance of With A Song In My Heart today because the hall was not opened for us by the caretaker. Fortunately, an off duty caretaker passed by so that we were able to perform our evening performance. But it was desperately disappointing for our audience (many of whom had to wait outside in the rain) and, of course, for all of us in the Society who had worked so hard to get the show ready and had to cancel a performance. The audience will be refunded or their tickets exchanged for a different performance. I'm happy to report that the evening performance went well and was enjoyed by all of the cast, with great comments from the audience.

18th February 2011: The dress rehearsal seemed to go pretty well tonight - a few things to iron out, but nothing to stop tomorrow and Sunday being excellent!

6th January 2011: A new year...and rehearsals commence again. Time for us to really crack on and get these numbers under our belts. Not too long until the show! And tonight...a visit from a former member who disappeared to Oz. Great to see you Suzy!

20th November 2010: Ah - the HMM quiz! Always an excellent night. Thanks as always to Mr & Mrs Presland for setting the quiz and for running it too! And thanks to Miss Presland for organising it!

21st October 2010: The AGM was tonight. No real great surprises- Louise did an excellent first Chairman's message. And, importantly, it was over quickly so we could get to the pub!! Great to see some of our Vice Presidents and Patrons at the AGM too.

10th October 2010: And the auditions are done! Pretty much everything sorted... so we can concentrate on getting on with a great show!

23rd September 2010: The launch of With A Song In My Heart tonight. Looks like there are some great numbers in there, with lots for all to do. Ideal really! It's a shame that we can't use the Queen's Theatre, as we usually do, but I'm sure the New Windmill Hall will be a fine alternative. Let's hope the auditions go well...

30th August 2010: A great bank holiday weekend...apart for some unfortunate weather... But the stall did well and we had some fun singing some numbers from Oklahoma!, My Fair Lady and Crazy For You. Looks like we picked up some new "fans" and some new members!

8th August 2010: And it's only 3 weeks until we are  at the Havering Show (August Bank Holiday weekend). We will have our usual stall, trying to promote the Society and gain members and audiences! And we will also be doing a little stint in one of the performing tents - doing a few numbers from our last 3 shows!

5th August 2010: Just two weeks until our first tap dancing class! We are hoping to get as many people as possible up to speed in some basic (and advanced!) tap with our very own resident qualified tap teacher, Miss Presland, so that Crazy For You has a bit of an added wow factor!!

1st August 2010: Today we visited The Grange in Collier Row to do a few numbers from My Fair Lady and Oklahoma! to the residents. They seemed to really enjoy it and it's always great to get out and give people pleasure.

28th July 2010: Today we said goodbye to Eileen Williams, the co-founder of Havering Music Makers. Eileen, and her husband Maurice, founded HMM in 1975 and she played an enormous part in the early success of the Society, not only taking on some of the great contralto principal roles but also taking most (if not all!) positions on the Executive Committee as well as being our Ticket Secretary for a number of years. We'd like to show our thanks for the many things that Eileen did to ensure the success of the Society. Our thoughts are with Maurice and Richard.

17th July 2010: A mixture of happiness and sadness as we have our summer BBQ and say goodbye to Kirsty, who is moving away...bye Kirsty!

10th July 2010: It's all over...bar the party! A huge mixture of relief, excitement, sadness and adrenaline still pumping - everyone is saying it's the best show yet...we tend to hear that after every show, but there are so many people saying it...maybe it's true?!

9th July 2010: Another great show, followed by the traditional Friday night curry. What could be better?!

8th July 2010: Opening night is done! And what a reaction from the audience!! The whole cast are over the moon at the wonderful comments and feedback we've had...one down, three to go.

27th March 2010: A slightly smaller turnout than usual at the quiz night tonight. This was a little disappointing, but the quiz itself was excellent. Stuart and Julia excelled themselves this time around!

8th March 2010: My Fair Lady has now been cast (barring a few characters which are to be re-auditioned). A fantastic set of auditions, showing off how much talent we have in the Society. Well done to everyone. Now let's congratulate and enjoy!

21st February 2010: It may have been a week after the show, but that didn't stop some very excitable people having a thoroughly enjoyable time at the after show party. Some could barely stand on their feet...some tried to stand on their nose instead... Thanks Paul from the whole gang!

18th February 2010: The first My Fair Lady rehearsal happened tonight. The production team of Scott Harris (Director), Malcolm Swan (Musical Director) and Sue Munn (choreographer) were on hand to let the company know their expectations for the next few months - always exciting!!

15th February 2010: And then it was over... Pajama Game has come and gone in the twinkling of an eye. The cast seemed to really enjoy themselves and the audience reaction has been brilliant. So many people to thank and congratulate, but we'll save that for the after show party! Mirror? What mirror?
